Saving Christmas

My hero for today

I was parking my car this morning at Target and as I was walking to the door I saw a guy (probably between 17-21 years old) sprinting to the door, past me.  As I walk through the door I watch him hand a HUGE wad of cash that was rubber banded together to a man probably well into his 80′s.

Nosey as I am I continued to watch, as the young man explained that he saw him drop it in the parking lot while getting of his car.

The old man looked like he was about to cry and said, “I wouldn’t have been able to buy my grandkids their Christmas presents without this, I saved it all year.”  Then he thanked him profusely and shook his hand.

My spirit and faith in humanity has been restored and to the anonymous boy, where ever you are, thank you for being such an upstanding human being.  You are my hero.

  1. Oh my goodness what an inspiration this is! It makes me feel good to know that someone had the decency to hand the man his money. That man should be applauded because you just don’t see it nowadays!
